‘Weeds’ Season 7 To Kick Off June 27 On Showtime

The wait is almost over for fans of the popular cable television show ‘Weeds’. The first episode of season 7 is set to air on June 27 at 10pm on Showtime. The seventh season will not pick up right where season 6 left off. A recent trailer has been seen online and the first episode takes place three years into the future. Fans of the show will remember the tense ending scenes from season 6 where the main character Nancy Botwin surrenders to police while the rest of her family boards an airplane to Denmark. Season 7 will pick up three years into the future as Nancy (played by Mary-Louise Parker) gets released from prison.

Cast interviews from the trailer reveal that the main characters will return for the upcoming season. Fans will get to see what has been going on with the other regular characters, Andy Botwin (played by Justin Kirk), Silas Botwin (played by Hunter Parrish), Shane Botwin (played by Alexander Gould), and of course Doug Wilson (played by Kevin Nealon).

Since the show began in 2005, every episode has been packed with a combination of drama, comedy, and great music. The show has taken many twists and turns over the first 6 seasons and Weeds season 7 should provide more of the same. Rumored guest stars for the upcoming season include Jennifer Jason Leigh (who will play Nancy Botwin’s estranged sister), and Martin Short (who will play an eccentric lawyer).

Intriguing plot lines and great character development have helped ‘Weeds’ reach great popularity. Fans should be eagerly anticipating the premiere next week as they wait to see where the show’s creator Jenji Kohan takes them next.
