The sixth season finale of Weeds could have functioned as a tense, darkly funny, surprisingly emotional series finale that encapsulated just how awful and how fantastic Nancy Botwin can be. Thankfully, the show was brought back for a 7th season, but if you think we'll get to see Nancy on trial/in prison for turning herself in for the murder of Pilar, you're mistaken. The 7th season of Weeds is eschewing the legal mumbo jumbo and conjugal visits in favor of following the Botwin clan (and Doug) as they head to New York.

Yes, last season was basically "The Botwins Do America" (and they did it well, as season 6 was a tremendous creative coup for the show), so this season, we'll get to see a bit more stability. Nancy will be getting released from prison after serving three years with a beautiful, almost equally as manipulative Russian woman with whom she had an affair. (Of course she did.) TVLine reports that Nancy's time in the halfway house won't be as steamy, as her roommate is supposed to cause some problems for the raven-haired beauty.

According to E!Online, the Botwins will be getting back to doing what they do best: selling drugs. The family will be starting a weed business, though some college kids already have an operation in that same territory. If you thought Nancy was just going to go about her business sipping iced coffee and quietly raising Stevie after prison, you must have been watching another show. Don't think that family life will be going smoothly, though, as Hunter Parrish tells Buzzsugar that there'll be a constant push-pull with his relationship with Nancy. On one hand, they want to keep the business going smoothly and do well, but on the other, he's been without her for three years and he's not had anyone to talk about the revelation that Judah isn't his biological dad with. Knowing the Botwins like I know them, that tension will bleed into the business, so I wouldn't be surprised to see the operation implode.

Aside from the Botwins, who will we be seeing this season?
So far the only character scheduled to make a return is Dean Hodes, as Andy Milder is set to recur on season 7 after making only one appearance last season, according to Deadline. With Allie Grant off in Suburgatory, I don't think we'll be seeing daughter Isabelle this season and with Elizabeth Perkins's notorious departure from the show before last season, it looks like Dean will be the only member of the Hodes family left. Maybe his return is due to Nancy needing his legal services?

Since most everyone from the show's previous incarnations in Agrestic and Mexico won't be appearing on season 7, there's a plethora of guest stars coming in to help fill the Weeds world out a little bit more. According to TVLine, you'll be seeing Martin Short as an attorney (but not one as malicious and dark as Leonard Winstone, the role on Damages he received an Emmy nomination for), Aidan Quinn as an investment CEO (possible love interest for Nancy?), Lindsay Sloane as an artist and Andy's love interest with David Clennon as her husband, Pablo Schreiber as the brother of Nancy's cellmate, and Gary Anthony Williams as Nancy's halfway house attendant who's is described as a "busybody".

In what could be an interesting plot development, Jennifer Jason Leigh has also signed on for this season to play Nancy's sister Jill Price-hyphen-Gray who has apparently been watching Stevie while Nancy's been locked up. Possible custody issues when Jill oversteps her bounds, perhaps?

But wait...what were they doing in Copenhagen anyway?
As we all know from watching last season, Silas, Andy, Shane, and Doug made it on the plane and off to the wonderful land of Denmark, where they've spent the last three years of their lives. (I hope you're safe, Mr. Schiff.) But what exactly did they do when they got there? Sit on their thumbs until Nancy came calling again? Oh, no, my friends. According to series creator Jenji Kohan via Hypable, the four men have changed not only physically but mentally as well. Silas has been modeling (believable), Shane's doing puppet theater (I hope we see footage), Andy's seeing someone, and Doug's just kinda there. Kohan refers to Nancy as their "true north" and how lost they were without having her in their lives, but all isn't what it seems, as there's going to be some resistance to having her back in their lives, at least initially.
